Crime Watch – Glen Ellen and Kenwood

The following are some of the recent calls from the Kenwood and Glen Ellen area to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department’s Sonoma Valley Substation.

May 6
A resident in the 9300 block of Bennett Valley Rd. saw a suspicious white pick-up truck at a neighbor’s house taking items out of the home. Deputies arrived and discovered that some items had been stolen, estimated at a value of $25.

May 8 At 1:30 a.m., a resident in the 8000 block of Mission Ave. said that a group of kids were outside smoking and talking loudly. A deputy swung by and told them to quiet down.

May 9 A deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle, a blue Mazda Miata, at 3 a.m. in the area of Dunbar Rd. and Sonoma Highway. The driver was identified and released.

Deputies got a call about someone who was drunk and had just left a residence in the 1100 block of Sonoma Glen Circle in a vehicle. Deputies tracked down the driver, a 69-year-old Eldridge man, and arrested him for DUI.

May 11 A shed was broken into in the 11000 block of Dunbar Rd., but nothing was taken.

A resident in the 8100 block of Sonoma Highway told a deliveryman to drop off the 300-pound welder he ordered at the highway entrance to his property. By the time the man went to pick up the welder, within a half hour, the welder, a Lincoln MIG, had been stolen.

May 12 An $800 iron gate was stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Adobe Canyon Rd.

May 13 A resident in the 2300 block of Warm Springs Rd. called deputies at 4:30 a.m. and said that someone had rung her doorbell and then tried to open her door. Everything checked out OK.

A man was cited in front of the Glen Ellen Post Office for drinking in public at 10 a.m.

Deputies were dispatched to a family disturbance in the 200 block of Cypress Ave. The situation was resolved.

Deputies went to Sonoma Valley Hospital to see an assault victim who lived in the 13000 block of Railroad Ave. The woman said her boyfriend, a 39-year-old Glen Ellen man, head butted her, causing a broken nose and various bumps and bruises. The boyfriend was taken to jail and charged with felony domestic violence with injury, battery, and false imprisonment. An emergency protective order was put in place, and bail was enhanced.

A resident in the 300 block of Hoff Rd. reported that someone shot out the window of her car with a BB gun as it was parked in her open garage.

May 14 At 3 p.m., a deputy stopped a car in the 11000 block of Sonoma Highway and cited the driver for driving on the wrong side of the road.

May 15 A resident in the 100 block of Trinity Rd. called to report that her two dogs, Huckleberry and Oboy, were missing. The matter was referred to Animal Control.

May 17 Deputies responded to a call at the Kenwood Market for a report that citizens were trying to prevent an intoxicated man from getting into his car. The man was arrested for public intoxication.

May 18 Around midnight, deputies responded to a report about young people making noise and drinking at Kenwood School on Randolph Ave. Two 19-year-olds were cited for underage possession of alcohol.

A business in the 8800 block of Sonoma Highway was broken into, but nothing could be found missing.
