Fair winning pumpkins

Carl Lawson (left) and his ranch manager, Mario Lopez, with their Harvest Fair award-winning pumpkins. Carl’s pumpkin was weighed first, and came in at a Harvest Fair record of 1,220 pounds. Then, Mario’s was weighed at 1,453 pounds! The two pumpkins, grown at Lawson’s Melita Rd. ranch, took first and second place. Green thumbs must run in the family, as Carl’s two great grandchildren, Harrison and Elizabeth Caughey of Kenwood, took second and third place in the Kid’s Pumpkin category, with their pumpkins weighing in at 1,021 and 968 pounds respectively.
