Classical Explorations enlightens, entertains

Classical Explorations, a class sponsored by Santa Rosa Junior College, provides a varied menu with monthly guests, dramatic portrayals, student presentations, CD/DVD/book recommendations, analysis of musical works, lessons on notation, and more.

On Oct. 21, local teacher/singer Melva Wheelwright will talk about her inspiration and experiences as a composer. On Oct. 28, instructor Carolyn Tewari will appear as 19-year-old composer/pianist Clara Wieck, dreaming of her future husband, Robert Schumann, and playing “Le Sabbat” (Witches’ Dance).

SE 581 – Musical Experience: Classical Explorations is a free class offered by Santa Rosa Junior College. Designed for older adults, it is open to all. It meets every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Oakmont Gardens, 301 White Oak Drive. For more information, call Carolyn Tewari at 542-7231, or email her at carolyntewari@earthlink.net.
