Registration open for Sonoma Senior Games

Registration is now open for the 1st Annual Sonoma Wine Country Senior Games, to be held June 2-5 at venues around the county. All interested active senior men and women 50+ can sign up to compete in their choice of sports – soccer, golf, bowling, basketball, road racing (5K, 10K, walking), swimming, bocce ball, and tennis competitions by registering on-line at

Council on Aging Services for Seniors is producing and hosting this inaugural event.

The Sonoma Wine Country Senior Games are part of the Senior Games of California and the National Senior Games. There are currently six other Senior Games held in California each year. Anne Warner Cribbs, Chair of the California State Senior Games Associations Board of Directors says, “Adding the Sonoma Wine Country Games is part of our vision for California to have a Senior Games in every community.”

The registration fee is $39 per person, plus a small additional fee for each sport. Along with the sporting events, there will be an opening ceremony on Friday, June 3, at the Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa, where participating athletes will be recognized and a wine reception will be held. Other activities are planned for the athletes and their families to enjoy during their visit.
