Dog adoption special at county animal shelter

From Feb. 14-18, any dog five years old or older from the Sonoma County Animal Shelter will be available for adoption at a reduced adoption fee of $50.

It’s the season of Valentine’s, so do something good for your heart – adopt a shelter dog.

Come and see the variety of wonderful adult dogs waiting to be adopted. Often, adult dogs are overlooked at shelters. To bring attention to these loving older dogs, the Animal Shelter is offering a reduced adoption fee. There are several advantages to adopting an adult dog; most come already trained, are housebroken, won’t chew up your furniture, and settle in quickly. All dogs have been examined by a veterinarian, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, and microchipped.

Sonoma County Animal Care and Control is open Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 5:30 p.m. Adoptions can be processed until 4:30 p.m. daily.

Sonoma County Animal Care and Control enforces local, state, and federal laws pertaining to animals, and operates a full service animal shelter serving more than 5,600 animals annually. For more information, visit www.theanimalshelter.org or call 565-7100.
