Solar viewing and Star Party
Solar viewing at Robert Ferguson Observatory (RFO) in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park begins at noon and ends at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. Solar telescopes are set up so you can safely look at and listen to our favorite star, the Sun. Admission to solar viewing is free, but there is an $8 per car Sugarloaf parking fee.
Then, starting at 9 p.m., enjoy a public Star Party. Please arrive before 11 p.m. to assure the observatory stays open for you. The Observatory’s three main telescopes plus many additional telescopes will be open for viewing. Ongoing presentations on astronomical topics will be given in the classroom. Friendly and knowledgeable docents are available to answer your questions.
Admission to the Star Party is $3 per adult, under 18 is free. Parking is $8 per car. Visit www.rfo.org or find RFO on Facebook at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. RFO is located inside the park at the end of Adobe Canyon Road in Kenwood.
