General meeting for Oakmont Emergency group
The Oakmont Emergency Preparedness Committee (OEPC) invites Oakmont residents to attend its next general meeting on Thursday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at the Berger Center. The main topic will be “Communication at Neighborhood Level During a Major Emergency.”
Our speaker, Tony Lukes, is an Oakmont resident and member of the OEPC board. He is an electrical engineer who spent 40 years in computer development and management in Silicon Valley. Tony became interested in HAM radio as a result of volunteering as the Major Emergency Co-Coordinator at the East Rec Center. Tony is also the Zone Communication Coordinator and will explain who the Zone Communicators are, what they do, and why.
The mission of the OEPC is “To care for the ambulatory, administer first aid and make arrangements to evacuate those more seriously injured.” Volunteers are much needed in the following positions:
COPE Team Leader: This position may be shared with a Co-Leader. Please call Sue Hattendorf at 539-2543.
Zone Communicator: Please call Tony Lukes at 537-9631.
Emergency Center Assistant: Please call Chair Al Thomas at 538-1319.
Mark your calendar for this important meeting and plan to attend.
