Celebrate 4th of July Kenwood!
Kenwood Footrace 10K and 3K
The Empire Runners Club will host its 42nd Annual Kenwood Footrace (a 10K and a 3K). Online registration closes June 30. Race day registration starts at 6 a.m. at Kenwood Plaza Park and costs $50 for adults (18 and over) and $40 for youth (17 and under). All will get a commemorative shirt, and the first 1,500 finishers receive commemorative glassware. Participants will receive $5 off the Kenwood Community Church pancake breakfast (with bib number). The footrace is considered one of the oldest 10K runs in California. For the course routes, past results and more, go to www.kenwoodfootrace.com.
Kenwood Community Church Pancake BreakfastThe Kenwood Community Church will be serving up a delicious breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m., which includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, orange juice and coffee. There is also a silent auction full of all sorts of goodies, so bring your checkbook. The church is located on Channing Row right next to Plaza Park.
Kenwood July 4 Hometown Parade
Starting at 10 a.m. along Warm Springs Road and then around Plaza Park, you can witness the Kenwood July 4th Hometown Parade, voted by galaxies everywhere as the best small town parade in the (known) universe. This year will honor two long-time Kenwoodians, Nathan Miron and Dee Sand as Grand Marshals, both of whom have made important contributions to our community (see page 18). This year’s parade King and Queen are Aidan Eljumaily and Paulina Lorenc, and the parade judges are Cathy Fletcher, John LemMon, Catherine Moylan, Sarah Phillips and Evan MacLeod.
We are honored once again to have the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Petaluma Honor Guard, and the national anthem will be played by trumpeter extraordinaire Oliver Hunt.
If you have a last minute parade entry, send it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Music in Plaza ParkAfter the parade, stick around for some July 4th jazz featuring Oliver Hunt and the Kenwood Jazz Quartet.
Bring a picnic and relax in Plaza Park for a stress-free July 4. Come out and support one of Kenwood’s nicest community events.
