Bouverie recruiting docents for elementary education program

Prospective volunteers are invited to Audubon Canyon Ranch’s Bouverie Preserve on Aug. 14 to learn about its docent training program and what they can do to be a part of an education program that provides more than 6,000 third- and fourth-grade students the opportunity to experience nature-based educational experiences at no cost to the schools.

The day will begin with a brief overview of the program and end with small groups heading out on the trail for a short hike. Seasoned Bouverie Docents will lead the hikes and be available to answer questions about the 2013-2014 Training Program, which starts in September. The 22-week training program will cover topics such as birds, amphibians, plants and nature education techniques. Trained docents visit Sonoma and Napa elementary schools and lead small groups of students on trails at Bouverie Preserve.

The Aug. 14 meeting will be held at Bouverie Preserve, 13935 Sonoma Hwy. in Glen Ellen. Please RSVP to bouverie@egret.org or 938-4554.
