On July 23 reader Laurie Turner captured this photo on Trinity Road. Apparently, the driver of this semi-truck made some poor decisions that resulted in getting stuck in the road blocking both directions. Turner ended up driving in reverse down the hill in the opposite lane until she could find a place to turn around and then drove to work via Calistoga Road. Mayacamas Volunteer Fire Chief Will Horne later reported that after a couple of hours, and with the help of Glen Ellen Fire Department, this big rig was eventually rescued, but will be on the hook for at least one large fine for blocking traffic.
Unfortunately, this situation is not all that uncommon as GPS and Google Maps insist the shortest route between Sonoma and Napa is over Trinity Road, regardless of the size of the vehicle you’re driving. Horne reported that supposedly the County has plans to install signs at the entrance to Trinity to alert truck drivers that this is not a good option.
