Culinary herb walk at Quarryhill

Learn how to add a little spice to your life and boost the flavor and nutrition of everyday meals with your own homegrown herbs. On Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Quarryhill Botanical Garden, master gardener Janet Barocco will discuss the basics of the use, cultivation and preservation of these valuable plants. Please bring a wide-mouth jar filled one third with wine, cider or rice vinegar, and a handful of your favorite fresh herbs (if you donít have any, the garden will have extras).

Barocco developed her passion for culinary herbs in 2000, when she and her husband transformed their suburban lot into an edible landscape and orchard. Barocco is a graduate of the California School of Herbal Studies and horticultural program at Santa Rosa Junior College. She has a B.A. in New College of Californiaís Culture, Ecology and Sustainable Communities program and is a well-respected UC Master Gardener.

This is a free event. To reserve your spot, call 996-3166 or log onto www.quarryhillbg.org. Quarryhill is located at 12841 Sonoma Hwy. in Glen Ellen.
