Help build trail on Sonoma Mountain
Spaces are still available for the Sonoma County Trails Councilís (SCTC) kick-off volunteer work day to help build the East Slope Sonoma Mountain Ridge Trail, which will become a segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail.
On Saturday, Nov. 2, SCTC will be a part of the larger REI-Ridge Trail Service Day, which has 15 projects in parks throughout the Bay Area.
This volunteer work day will conclude with an assortment of beverages (including Lagunitas) and a lunch from Chipotle Mexican Grill. No experience necessary. SCTC will have tools and trained crew leaders. There is limited space, so please register online at www.ridgetrail.org/index.php/events/rei-ridge-trail-service-day.
Meet at 9 a.m. at Caryís Sports Grill, 18709 Arnold Drive in El Verano, opposite Ernie Smith Community Park. Due to limited space at the work site, participants will carpool/caravan to the trail site and plan to be back to the vehicles by 3 p.m. or earlier.
Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and those under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the liability waiver. Project will go ahead in light rain; heavy rain will cancel. If it does rain, the decision to cancel will be made by 5 p.m. on the Friday before the project. Please check www.ridgetrail.org for further updates.
