Jan. 5 – The climate crisis: science, denial, solutions
The Oakmont Sunday Symposium kicks off 2014 with a presentation about the challenges of climate change. How serious is the threat of climate change to human civilization? Recent data indicate more rapid warming and accelerating greenhouse gas emissions than previously projected. As our political leaders attempt to address this challenge, disinformation floods the public space, creating confusion and delay.
Dr. Peter Joseph, co-founder of the San Francisco Bay chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility, will discuss what must be done to reduce emissions and begin to pull greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere. He will also address how the public and political decision-makers can cut through resistance and denial in order to do what is necessary.
