Celebrate Jack Londonís birthday at park, winery
Jack London State Historic Park and neighboring Benziger Family Winery are celebrating Jack Londonís birthday with special docent-guided tours and wine tastings on Sunday, Jan. 19.
The tours of Beauty Ranch will focus on Londonís pioneering experiments in sustainable agriculture as well as his time living at the Ranch. London began this innovative farm work in 1911, truly ahead of his time and sowing seeds for the sustainable concepts that have since become a natural part of life and work in Sonoma Valley, including Benziger Family Winery, a leader in biodynamic viticulture and farming.
The tours begin in the London Cottage and then continue with docent-guided tours to the Pig Palace, winery ruins and stone barns. Following the tour, guests proceed down the road to Benziger Family Winery for a complimentary wine tasting. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the wineryís terrace area.
There are three tours to choose from: 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. Tours last 1 hours. Meet in the Ranch upper parking lot. Reservations are required. Tickets for the tour and tasting are $25, which includes the park entry fee. Buy tickets online at www.jacklondonpark.com/jack-wine.html. For any questions, call 938-5216.
