Oakmont emergency preparedness meeting
The Oakmont Emergency Preparedness Committee (OEPC) will have a general meeting for all Oakmont residents on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2 p.m. in the Berger Center.
A primary goal of the OEPC in 2014 will be to develop and publish an Oakmont Preparedness and Emergency Response Plan. In developing this plan, one key activity will be the review and evaluation of emergency plans adopted by other communities. At the meeting, Jeff Young, past president of the Dillon Beach Emergency Response Team (DBERT), and a part-time Oakmont resident, will review and explain the DBERT plan.
Since Oakmont may become isolated for a period of time during a major disaster, there are parallels between what Dillon Beach and Oakmont may experience.
