Soggy Sugarloaf campers...

After a huge storm landed on Sonoma Valley begining Friday, Feb. 7, Sugarloaf Ridge State Park had to close the campground to keep campers from getting stranded when Sonoma Creek topped the access road. By Sunday, 10.1 inches of rain had been registered on the rain guage at Brookfarm Alpacas, located on Sonoma Mountain Road. Although the storm more than quadrupled the rainfall we’ve had to date, we are still in the middle of a record drought. According to numbers from the U.S. National Weather Service for the San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Rosa had received 2.12. inches of rain before Feb. 7. After last weekend’s storm, Santa Rosa had received a total of 9.18 inches of rain, but is still well below its 23.11 inch seasonal average (between July and February).
