Bill & Dave hike Kunde; brunch on Bald

Join Bill & Dave Hikes on Saturday, March 15, for a hike at Kunde Family Estate Winery and Vineyards. The Kunde family has again allowed this special opportunity to hike on the scenic 1,850-acre estate in Kenwood. Meet at the Kunde tasting room at 9:45 a.m. Late-arrivals will not be able to join the hike.

The route will take hikers through some of Wine Countryís most spectacular scenery: rolling vineyards, wooded forests, and pasture lands with grazing Hereford cattle. Brief stops along the way will be made at the spectacular mountaintop tasting deck and the historic Dunfillan Winery ruins. The lunch stop will be at Boot Hill, in the heart of the Kunde Estate. This strenuous 8-mile hike has a total elevation gain of 1,400 feet and will last approximately five hours. Wear sturdy shoes and layered clothing, and bring plenty of water and a lunch. Hike is rain or shine and you will not be able to turn around if it begins raining, so be prepared. Upon return to the tasting room, a complimentary wine tasting will be offered. Kunde Family Estate is located at 9825 Sonoma Hwy.

Also, join Bill & Dave Hikes on Saturday, March 22, as the Sonoma Ecology Center presents a special Brunch on Bald Mountain to support Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. If you know someone who would like to visit the top of Bald Mountain but canít handle this strenuous hike, Team Sugarloaf partners will be happy to chauffeur them to the top. This is a rare opportunity for non-hikers to enjoy this experience, since vehicles are not typically permitted. Whether you choose to hike or ride, upon arrival at the top you will be treated to a hearty picnic brunch and incredible 360-degree views. The hike will begin at 9 a.m.

This special fundraising event is by reservation only. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 10 to 17. Rides to the top are an additional $20. Due to difficulty of this hike, itís not recommended for children under 10. Children under 10, accompanied by a paid adult, are required to ride.
