Southeast Greenway topic at Democratic Club

The next meeting of the Oakmont Democratic Club will be March 4, 4 to 7 p.m. at the East Recreation Center in Oakmont. Oakmont residents and their guests are invited.

Guest speakers Jim Pedgrift and Thea Hensel will address Santa Rosa’s Southeast Greenway Campaign.

California’s highway officials have abandoned plans to extend a proposed Highway 12 freeway eastward from Farmers Lane (near Spring Lake Regional Park). They have turned over the acquired right-of-way to local groups, which intend to develop a parkway for hikers, bikers and other recreational users. The presentation will discuss a community partnership to design and manage the proposed Greenway.

There will also be a presentation on the upcoming elections in California and the nation.
