Violin and guitar duo to appear in Oakmont
On Thursday, May 8, at 1:30 p.m. at Berger Center in Oakmont, the highly praised San Francisco duo of Ian Swensen, violin, and Marc Teicholz, guitar, will present the final concert in Music at Oakmont’s 2013-14 Season.
Swensen has established himself as one of the most dynamic, diverse, and sought-after performers and teachers on the music scene today. He has lived in the Bay Area for nearly 20 years, teaching at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Sacramento State University. His recordings can be found on the Telarc and Deutsche Grammophon labels.
Marc Teicholz was awarded First Prize at the 1989 International Guitar Foundation of America Competition. His performances include tours of the U.S., Canada, Russia, Poland, Switzerland, and Southeast Asia. His latest disc, Valseana, features 18 waltzes performed on 18 different historic guitars of the period of each selection. Teicholz is currently on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
