Parade seeks veterans, grand marshal nominations

The Kenwood 4th of July Hometown Parade is coming up. If you are a WWII veteran, let the community honor you for your service to our country by being a participant in the parade.

The Parade Committee would like to get together as many veterans as possible. The parade lasts about 30 minutes, and transportation can be provided if you do not wish to walk around the Kenwood community park.

There will be activities in the park following the parade, and it would be an ideal time to share your experiences, medals and pictures in a booth under a shade tree. For more information contact Alec Peters at the Kenwood Press (833-5155) or John Rector (888-3993).

In other parade news, nominations to be this year’s grand marshal(s) are now being taken. If you know a person, group, or business that you think is worthy of being grand marshal, please email Include a paragraph or two about who you are nominating.

Parade applications are now available to download at or pick one up at the Kenwood Press office. There is no cost to be in the parade. Just come up with a great idea and apply a patriotic theme. All humans and animals are welcome to participate.
