Flower power at the County Fair

The Sonoma County Fair runs July 24 through Aug. 10, with the groovy theme of “Peace, Love & Fair.”

Enjoy live horse racing (Wine Country Horse Racing tickets go on sale June 7), a giant carnival, the exquisite Hall of Flowers show themed “Flower Power,” headline concerts, live entertainment, contests, games and more.

Thrill-seekers won’t want to miss all of the action-packed entertainment going on during the PRCA Rodeo (July 27), Flat Track Motorcycle Racing (Aug. 1), Destruction Derby (Aug. 2), and Monster Trucks (Aug. 9 and 10).

Why not think about entering a competition yourself? Are you the Easy Bake Oven queen...or teen king of psychedelic poster art? Can you rock a “flower power” table setting or build a Lego mansion worthy of the rich and famous? It’s the time to consider hundreds of creative ways to showcase your talents at the Fair.

Exhibitors can either fill out the entry form in the Fair’s Entry Guidebook or go to the Fair’s website and register online. The Fair’s 2014 Entry Guidebook is available and can be picked up for free at local Chambers of Commerce, Sonoma County Library branches and at the Fair Entry Office, 1350 Bennett Valley Road in Santa Rosa.

Tickets for the fair and its headline concerts and shows in Chris Beck Arena are on sale now at the Box Office at 1350 Bennett Valley Road in Santa Rosa and online at www.sonomacountyfair.com/fair/tickets. Buy your fair tickets by July 23 and single day admission for adults (age 13+) is $8 ($11 value) and kids age seven to 12 only $5. Save even more with a Family Pack or a Season Admission Pass. For details, visit www.sonomacountyfair.com or call 545-4200.
