SV Historical Society camps
The Sonoma Valley Historical Society is holding two camps in June. Archaeology Camp takes place June 9 to 13, 9 a.m. to noon. Camp focuses on both the Native American and Mexican-era histories of the city of Sonoma. Campers will classify and catalog artifacts, learn how to identify archaeological sites, and more. Mapping Sonoma Surveying Camp is June 16 to 20, 9 a.m. to noon. The goal is to acquaint campers with what land surveying is as it relates to everyday life, and the historical perspective surveying has played in the development of the community. Each archaeology class will have themes, such as settlement and subsistence, technology, politics, religion and language. Camps are for 9 to 12 year olds, and cost for each is $150.
