Sonoma County Fair coming
It’s time to break out the tie-dye, sew some patches on your bell bottoms, and prepare to beat it back to the 1960s at the Sonoma County Fair. “Peace, Love & Fair” is coming to the fairgrounds in Santa Rosa for 16 days of groovy fun, July 24 through Aug. 10 (closed Mondays).
Fairgoers will be entertained by more than 32 bands in Shade Park, including Country Joe McDonald, California Beach Party, Summer of Love, the Sun Kings, and Those Were The Days, starring William Florian, former lead singer of The New Christy Minstrels. There will also be a plethora of local talent taking the stage in the Community Theater, including singers, dancers and other performers, plus a celebration of culture and color during the Mexican Fiesta on Sunday, July 27. New to the Fair this year: Acrobuffos will wander the streets with their hysterical comedy show – watch out for flying water balloons and loud opera music.
In this year’s Hall of Flowers, the term “Flower Power” will come vibrantly to life. Also on tap are horse racing, a giant carnival, rodeo, destruction derby, plenty of fair food, livestock exhibits, arts and crafts, special activities for the kids, and much more.
