Edmond Joseph, age 84
Edmond Joseph of Kenwood passed away on Aug. 24 in Santa Rosa. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie, his three children Edmond, Suzy and Carol, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
At age 19, Edmond and his brother Albert immigrated to San Francisco from La Besse Noits, France. Edmond was a self-made man, starting in the dry cleaning business in San Francisco, then as a boiler man, and finally retiring from the San Mateo Unified School District.
In 1995 Edmond and Marie moved to Kenwood. They loved their life here, which reminded them both of their childhoods in France, raising chickens and rabbits, and growing and canning vegetables from the garden.
Edmond was the family leader for relatives from both France and America. He was an active member of La Ligue Henri IV and the Société la Gauloise. He enjoyed hunting with his dog, working in his vineyard, fine foods, and vegetable gardening. His hard work and emphasis on family has been an inspiration to his children, grandchildren, and the many people whose lives he touched.
