County fire service meeting in Kenwood
Sonoma County officials have begun a two-to-three-year process to review the more than 40 separate fire services in unincorporated areas of Sonoma County, with the stated goal of making the entire system more effective, efficient, and sustainable.
A series of meetings are currently going on throughout the county to receive community input. There is a meeting scheduled for Nov. 12, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Kenwood fire station, 9045 Sonoma Hwy. If you live in the areas covered by the Kenwood Fire Protection District, Glen Ellen Fire Protection District, or the Mayacamas Volunteer Fire Department, this is an important meeting for you to attend. All members of the public are invited.
There are community meetings at other fire districts throughout the county as well, and for a complete list, as well as more information about the project, go to sonomacounty.ca.gov/CAO/Fire-Services-Project/.
After the community meetings, the information gathered will be presented at a Board of Supervisors meeting tentatively scheduled for Nov. 25.
