Letters to the Editor
A fond farewell
After nearly 7 years in Kenwood, the Hinerfeld-Geists are moving down-valley, and we’d like to thank the Kenwood community for being such a wonderful one in which to spend the first years of our marriage and our family. We were wedded in the backyard of our Lawndale Road house the very month we moved in. Just a few months after that, our son Amos was born at home, followed in 2010 by another son, Guthrie. During this time our property also made a fine home for dogs, cats, goats, donkeys, chickens, geese, and a bunny.
The day we got married, we celebrated by hosting the first of what would eventually be seven “backyard music festivals,” known variously as Cur-ville or The Rockin’ Heart Hoedown (after our pet name for our Kenwood property, “The Rockin’ Heart Ranchito.”) Through those festivals and countless other community activities like Easter Egg Hunts, Fourth of July Parades, Santa at the firehouse, and Wine Country Youth Baseball, we have come to know and cherish many Kenwood friends and neighbors.
We’re off to faraway Agua Caliente, where we will be closer to our kids’ schools and much of our social and commercial lives. We’ll certainly miss Kenwood, but we’ll be coming back to Caf Citti, VJB, Swede’s Feeds, and other spots that we’ve come to love, and we look forward to seeing you when we do.
