KFA awards annual scholarships
Each year the Kenwood Firefighters Association (KFA) gives scholarship awards to qualified students.
This year’s recipients are: $400 to Kayla Shubin for the Paramedic Academy at Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC); $600 to Tori Shubin for the nursing program at SRJC; $1,500 to John Aitchison as he pursues an Associate of Science degree at the SRJC in fire science and paramedic studies, as well as a B.A. in business management; and $1,500 to Nathan Ostrander for studying motion picture science at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Scholarship applications were reviewed by a committee made up of Kenwood School Superintendent/Principal Bob Bales, and Kenwood residents Dee Sand, Joan Dinner, and Thelma Jorgensen.
Applicants were evaluated on a variety of factors, including but not limited to community involvement, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities, and youth activities.
