Blood drive at Sonoma Community Center
The Sonoma Community Center, in association with Blood Centers of the Pacific is hosting a blood drive on Friday, Aug. 14 between noon and 5 p.m. The big bloodmobile will be parked at 276 East Napa St., right alongside the theater.
Go to www.bloodheroes.com and select one of the time slots. When you come to give blood, you will be greeted by local volunteers, and given homemade cookies when you are finished. Bring your photo ID with you.
Besides giving back to the community and saving lives, you’ll receive free wellness screenings, including blood pressures, cholesterol and iron level every time you donate. Plus, you’ll learn your blood type.
Giving blood is easy and takes only about 45 minutes from start to finish. Blood transfusions save lives. Human blood has no substitute. Every three seconds, someone needs a blood transfusion. About one in seven people entering a hospital need blood. A pint of blood, separated into components, can help up to three people.
