Luther Lloyd “Pete” Dintiman, age 95
Luther Lloyd “Pete” Dintiman, born to Luther Lloyd and Sarah Dintiman on Nov. 17, 1920, in Steelton, Pennsylvania, died on Dec. 4, 2015, in Oakmont. He was a devoted husband, father, life partner, chemical engineer and executive, wine connoisseur, golfer, Oakmont community leader and volunteer, and long-time member of Kiwanis.
Pete received his degree in chemical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania in 1942, and immediately went to work at Union Carbide Corp. in various positions in West Virginia, Texas and then in New York where he was Vice President – distribution, chemicals and plastics. He was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the professional chemical fraternity, Alpha Chi Sigma, and the honorary engineering fraternity, Tau Beta Pi.
After retirement Pete moved to Oakmont in 1988 with his wife Dorothy. She predeceased him in 1999.
For the past 15 years Pete was a life partner of Brenda Chisolm, also a resident of Oakmont.
Pete served on the Board of the Oakmont Village Association from 1994 and 1996. He was elected President of OVA in 1996 serving until 1998. For many years he volunteered to drive Oakmont residents to appointments. He was a generous contributor to the Sonoma County Orchestra, Sonoma State Unversity, the Luther Burbank Center and other community organizations.
Predeceased by son Peter Dintiman and daughter Lisa Dintiman, he leaves daughter Robin A. Dintiman of Oakland, her husband Kenneth Margolies, and their son Grant Dintiman of Reno, Nevada; and life partner Brenda Chisolm of Oakmont.
