Keith and Linda Hale are proud new grandparents. Jackson James Hale was born on Aug. 19 to Jordan and Michelle Hale, in Paradise, California. Jackson weighed in at 6 lbs. 9 oz. and was 19_ inches long. The family is looking forward to spending Jackson's first Christmas Eve at home, though Dad will be on duty Christmas Day with Cal Fire. Jordan started his fire career with the Kenwood Fire Department and was captain of the Lower Lake CDF station in Lake County this past fire season. Congratulations, everyone!
The Maria Carrillo Jazz Choir gave a short Christmas concert at a luncheon at St. Patrick's Church on Dec. 8, and they were fantastic, as always. Led by Gail Bowers, the group performs complex and challenging arrangements, which they rehearse at school every day at 7 a.m. – that's dedication. The Jazz Choir sang the National Anthem at AT&T Park on Sept. 11, and currently they have a call-back to possibly sing at the Foster Farms Bowl at Levi Stadium on Dec. 26 (UCLA vs. Nebraska), so cross your fingers. You can hear them closer to home Jan. 13 through 15 when they give their winter concerts at MCHS. Tickets are $10 at the door, and the concerts start at 7 p.m.
A little boy at Kenwood School, five-year-old Dalton Catrambone, has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and will be out of school for an undetermined amount of time as he receives chemotherapy and rebuilds his immune system. While this type of Leukemia has a good prognosis, the road is long and involves up to three years of aggressive treatment daily. This includes chemotherapy at home, and weekly at Oakland Children's hospital. Besides the heartache for parents Jeremy and Tatum Catrambone and their other children, this is also a big financial burden for the family of six, due to the loss of income as this will involve 24/7 day care and home schooling for an extended period of time. If you'd like to help, there's a GoFundMe page, www.gofundme.com/goteamdalton.
That's all I have room for this time. Remember, there is no January 1st issue of the Kenwood Press. We need a vacation! We'll be back on Jan. 15. In the meantime, whatever holiday you celebrate, I hope it's a joyous one.
