Apply for Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the Spring 2016 Citizen’s Academy.

The Citizen’s Academy provides participants with an inside look at local law enforcement with up close and personal interaction. During the Academy, students will learn about law enforcement communications, crime prevention, criminal law, the correctional system, investigation units including CSI, Coroner, Violent Crimes, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault, Narcotics, Intelligence Unit, and more. Also included are walking tours of the Main Adult Detention Facility, the main administration building, and the Coroner’s Office.

The Academy runs on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. starting Feb. 24 and going through April 27.

One of the goals of the Citizen’s Academy is to promote greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement’s role in the community. If you are interested in participating, would like more information, or to complete an application, visit www.sonomasheriff.org.
