Work off that Thanksgiving meal with a hike
It’s the day after Thanksgiving. Are you feeling a bit guilty about those slices of pecan or pumpkin pie you ate? Then join other over-indulgers to “Hike Your Pie Off” on Friday, Nov. 25, and Sunday, Nov. 27, in Trione-Annadel State Park.
The Nov. 25 hike starts at 9 a.m. and goes until approximately 11 a.m. Burn calories while learning about park geology and history, native plants and wildlife. This will be a medium paced, naturalist-led hike, with approximately 300 feet in vertical gain. Wear hiking shoes, and bring water. Meet at the Channel Dr./Warren P. Richardson Trailhead parking lot. Cost is $7 park day use fee.
The Nov. 27 hike starts at 8:30 a.m. and goes until noon. Meet the trail leader at the top of Parktrail Drive in Santa Rosa, at the neighborhood trailhead entrance. The hike will stop to observe what is already regenerating after the recent fire, and look at trailside quarry sites; approximately 500 feet vertical gain. Wear hiking shoes, bring water; trekking poles recommended. Rain cancels.
No advance reservations are needed for either hike. Dogs are not allowed on trails.
