July 4th Parade preparations underway
Yes, the rain is really going to go away in time to have Kenwood’s iconic Hometown July 4th Parade. To kick things off, the 2017 website is up and running at www.kenwoodparade.org. It covers the basic details, with more to follow as they develop.
People who want to be in the parade can sign up online this year, or download a parade application from the site and fill it out the old fashioned way. Either mail it in, or drop it by the Kenwood Press office.
Volunteers are always appreciated, so there’s a sign up form online as well, or just call this year’s Parade Poohbah, Jay Gamel, at 833-5306 and leave your contact info or questions. While there isn’t much to do at the moment, parade organizers need to find out who is available in July for the various jobs that make the day such a delight for everybody.
There will be a volunteer meeting at the Kenwood Depot toward the end of May to get to know each other and talk about the various jobs that need doing – date to be announced in the May 15 issue of the Kenwood Press.
