Bouverie Preserve seeks new volunteer docents


Bouverie Audubon Preserve

Prospective volunteers are invited to Bouverie Preserve on June 29, July 17, July 27 or Aug. 14 to learn about its award-winning docent training program. The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a brief overview of the program and end with small groups heading out on the trail for short hikes. Seasoned Bouverie docents will lead the hikes and be available to answer questions about the 2013-2014 training program.

Starting in September, the 22-week program will cover topics such as birds, amphibians, plants and nature education techniques. Trained docents visit Sonoma and Napa elementary schools and lead small groups of students on trails at Bouverie Preserve. Each year these education programs provide more than 6,000 3rd- and 4th-grade students the opportunity to experience nature-based education at no cost to the schools.
