Bouverie Preserve presents “Autumn Leaves in Colored Pencil”

Bouverie Audubon Preserve

Saturday November 16th 2013 - 9:30am to

Audubon Canyon Ranch’s Bouverie Preserve in Glen Ellen will host a Fall Backyard Naturalist Program, “Autumn Leaves in Colored Pencil,” on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Led by botanical artist Nina Antze, the Backyard Naturalist Program will begin inside Bouverie Preserve’s Gilman Hall with a brief introduction and overview of pencil and journaling techniques, including burnishing and impressed line.

Nina Antze is a botanical artist and quilt maker living in Northern California. She has a degree in Fine Art from San Francisco State University and has a Certificate in Botanical Illustration from the New York Botanical Gardens. Her quilts have won numerous awards and her botanical paintings and colored pencil drawings have been exhibited in New York and at the Huntington Library.

The remainder of the class will be held on the trail on a one to three mile hike, exploring the changes that plant’s leaves, seeds and berries go through as autumn approaches.

An art supply list will be provided upon registration.

Participants are encouraged to wear long pants, closed-toe hiking shoes and dress in layers as temperatures can vary throughout the day. Bring a lunch to be eaten on the trail and plenty of drinking water.

Cost is $25 per seminar.

Class size is limited. Register by Nov. 11 at rsvp@egret.org or 415-868-9244.
