Live Nativity at Glen Ellen Church

Glen Ellen Community Church

Saturday December 12th 2015 - 6:00pm to

One way to enjoy the holiday traditions is to take some time out and treat yourself to an evening at the Glen Ellen Community Church. The stately and decorated 121-year-old church stands on O’Donnell Lane, behind the Post Office. And there, on Dec. 12, you will find a menagerie of camels, sheep, goats, a donkey, a 1st century-costumed couple looking for a place to rest, some wise men from the East, and a couple of lowly shepherds herding their flock – all depicting the essence of that first Christmas as told in the Bible.

The straw smells fresh, the hot apple cider is deliciously warm, and Christmas carols will be sung as a blessing to all in attendance. Echoing down from generations past, this tableau is a gift to the community from the Glen Ellen Community Church as it performs its annual “Live Nativity,” beginning at 6 p.m. with encores every 30 minutes or so. In between the telling of the First Christmas Story, friends and guests can visit with the manger animals, enjoy a cookie or two, and meet other seekers of holiday merriment and meaning.

Then on Christmas Eve at 4:30 p.m., please come for an old fashioned Christmas Eve candle lighting service with carols, the Christmas story as told from the Scriptures, and concluding with all in attendance singing Silent Night by candlelight.

The church is located at 5311 O’Donnell Lane in Glen Ellen. For more information, please contact Pastor Jim at 996-1479.
