Glen Ellen Town Forum meets
Monday May 1st 2017 -
The next meeting of the Glen Ellen Town Forum is May 1, 7 p.m. at Dunbar School.
The Forum has been working since the end of last year to create a voice for Glen Ellen residents regarding important issues that affect the town.
To that end, committees have been formed to help focus on particular areas, such as traffic and safety, community projects, the future of the Sonoma Developmental Center, tourism impacts, and possible organizational methods Glen Ellen could use to seek funding for projects and communicate the views of the town and provide a link with governmental agencies and officials.
At the last meeting in March, the Forum voted to pursue getting nonprofit status to enable the group to seek grants and other funding sources. In addition, the Forum agreed to form some kind of community advisory council to serve as the voice of Glen Ellen and as an official channel of communication at the county and other levels.
Among the items set for discussion at the May 1 meeting are the possibilities of providing mobile showers for the homeless in the area, and possibly declaring Glen Ellen a sanctuary village.
Anyone in the Glen Ellen community can participate in the Glen Ellen Town Forum. All input and ideas are welcome.
