MLK Day clean up at Hood Mountain park


Hood Mountain Regional Park - Pythian Entrance

Sonoma County Regional Parks will host a project in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 21. Volunteers will remove invasive French broom plants from the Lower Johnson Ridge Trail at Hood Mountain Regional Park & Open Space Preserve. Staff will provide tools, gloves, water and snacks. Wear sturdy shoes, long pants, long-sleeve shirt, hat and sunscreen.

Registration is required. Volunteers 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Older, unaccompanied minors must have a signed parental permission slip. If a permission slip is required, note this in the comments section during registration and one will be emailed to you. To register go to www.parks.sonomacounty.ca.gov and go to “Upcoming Events.”

Meet at 9 a.m. at the equestrian parking lot off of Eliza way for a short hike to the work site.

Directions: Turn north onto Pythian Road from Highway 12. Stay to the right when the road splits. Turn left onto Eliza Way. The equestrian parking lot is 100 yards down Eliza Way. Follow the signs.
