Hike Buckeye Knob to Jack London Park
Saturday March 16th 2019 - 8:30am to
Buckeye Knob, located on the east side of Sonoma Mountain, is a privately owned property and forever protected through a conservation easement donated to the Ag and Open Space District by the property owners. The 52-acre property is located on a highly visible south-facing hillside and includes grassland, oak woodland, and the lush upper canyon of Carriger Creek. On March 16, Sonoma Ecology Center naturalists will share their natural history knowledge and give hikers an invigorating workout during this half-day hike, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Hikers will explore the canyon first, and then climb to the top of the knob for a picnic lunch while enjoying spectacular views of Sonoma Valley, the Mayacamas, and San Pablo Bay. Following lunch, explore the East Slope Sonoma Mountain Ridge Trail, out to where it connects to Jack London State Park, and then return back through Buckeye Knob.
