Oakmont Sunday Symposium

Oakmont Berger Center

Sunday October 6th 2019 - 10:30am to

On Oct. 6, at the Oakmont Sunday Symposium, Jack London historian Lou Leal will share his expertise on the writer and his life. London lived his short life true to his credo: that the purpose of man is to live, and not just to exist. As Leal explains, London lived his 40 years at warp speed, relentlessly pushing the envelope in adventure, writing, travel and learning. Come get inspired to stretch out of the comfort zone of your own life and take a risk.

Leal has volunteered as a docent at Jack London State Park for 23 years.

On Oct. 13, the speaker will be First District Supervisor Susan Gorin speaking about “Sonoma County Today.” Gorin has been in government service for over two decades. She will talk about concerns surrounding fire recovery and resilience, housing and neighborhood development, infrastructure and public transit creation, water supply expansion, open space preservation and other Sonoma County issues. Supervisor Gorin will allow time for questions and answers about other topics of interest to Oakmont.

After serving as city councilmember and mayor of Santa Rosa, Gorin was elected as Sonoma County First District supervisor in 2012. She has served most of two terms and is running for re-election in March 2020.

The Sunday Syposium meets 10:30-noon at the Berger Center. A $3 donation is requested, or you can get a $50 pass which includes all the lectures through May.

All Oakmont residents and their guests are welcome.
