Shoot for the stars at Ferguson Observatory

Sugarloaf State Park

Saturday November 23rd 2019 - 11:00am to

The Robert Ferguson Observatory at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park is hosting some fun and educational events in November.

On Nov. 23 and Nov. 30, there will be solar viewing between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Listen to and safely observe our most important star, the sun. The sun is the star that is the center of the solar system. Did you know that over one million Earths could fit inside the sun, and that the sun is an almost perfect sphere? Learn more fun facts about the sun by coming to the solar viewing. Admission is free, but there is a $10 parking fee.

There will also be a Public Star Party on Nov. 23 and Nov. 29. The observatory’s three main telescopes will be open for viewing, and there will be interesting presentations on astronomical topics in the observatory’s classroom. Friendly and knowledgeable docents are available to answer your questions. Admission to the Public Star Party is $5 per adult. Those under 18 are free. Parking fees apply.
