SIR #92 to hear about the Condor Club

Oakmont Berger Center

Tuesday January 14th 2020 - 11:30am to

The Sons In Retirement (SIR) Branch 92 luncheon on Tuesday, Jan. 14, will take you for a walk on the wild side of San Francisco history as Benita Mattioli presents the captivating true tale of how the Condor, a tiny San Francisco bar with a jukebox, was transformed into the first then the most famous topless nightclub in history.

Author Benita Mattioli is the wife of Pete Mattioli who managed the Condor Club, and she tells the titillating story of how the topless nightclub became a key player in the sexual revolution of the 1960s. Benita will describe the evolution of topless dancing from the very beginning: the first night Carol Doda danced topless on the white baby grand piano, the uproar within the community, the arrests, and the trials, including many historical photos. The topless revolution blew into North Beach like a wildfire in 1964 and changed San Francisco and the world forever.

With this walk on the wild side you will enjoy a lunch catered by Oakmont Market. A full house is expected, so get your reservation in to Dave Alton ASAP. Call 707-833-1390. The luncheon will take place at the Berger Center, starting at 11:30 a.m.
