Seaweed: ecology, use and harvest

Sonoma Land Trust sponsors local farmer Heidi Herrmann who will present an on-line illustrated presentation and demonstration on how to differentiate and use coastal sea vegetables. Seaweed ecology, harvest cycles, nutritional and health benefits of local edible algae, (such as nori, wakame, bladderwrack, kombu) will be discussed. Heidi hand harvests Sonoma Coast seaweed and grows certified organic herbs and cut flowers. She leads public seaweed harvesting forays with ForageSF.com (April-Aug). Heidi earned an ornamental horticulture degree from Cal Poly and a masters from Sonoma State University in education. www.strongarmfarm.com
